This week is about the middle school English teacher Mrs. Parker. i asked her the following questions for our weekly spotlight. These are the questions I asked:

What is your favorite thing about being an educator?
My favorite thing about being an educator is seeing students succeed.
What is the thing you like the least about being an educator?
The thing I like least about being an educator is having to discipline my students.
What are you and your students doing in class right now?
Right now my 7th grade students are reading the novel Michael Vey: Prisoner of Cell 25. The 8th graders are working on their argumentative writing.
How do you keep your students engaged? Or, what is your students' favorite part of the activity?
It is really hard to keep students engaged in English.  I try my best to find engaging stories to read, and I move from one thing to another often within the class period.
What challenges does your current activity present for you and your students?
Argumentative writing is difficult for middle school students because it is the first time they are addressing counter claims. Counter claims is a hard concept, and takes a lot of hard work to become good at including them in your argumentative writing.
What is your greatest accomplishment so far this school year?
My greatest accomplishment so far is helping students that aren’t reading on grade level to be successful.
